Located at the end of a peninsula on the Pauanui waterways, this contemporary holiday home showcases a refined palette of timbers, textiles, and natural stone. The project required a comprehensive approach to residential lighting, automation, audio-visual, and security systems to support both everyday living and entertaining.
The lighting design balances ambient, task, and feature lighting across a range of spaces and moods. Custom recessed LED channels were designed in-house as an alternative to traditional downlights, complementing the timber ceilings and adding a strong architectural element. Feature lighting, including a slimline suspended fixture over the kitchen island, reinforces the home’s cohesive design language, while integrated LED strip lighting enhances both functionality and atmosphere.
Extensive exterior lighting connects the home to its surrounding jetties and canal, guiding movement between outdoor living areas and highlighting the scale of the property. Durable fittings were carefully selected to withstand the coastal environment without compromising on performance or visual quality.
A fully integrated smart home system, powered by Fibaro and Amazon Alexa, automates lighting, blinds, appliances, and audio throughout the home. Multiple Echo Show devices provide intuitive touchscreen control points, creating a responsive environment tailored to the family’s needs.
Multi-zoned audio is delivered through Sonos amplifiers and speakers, supported by a robust network infrastructure installed by Evolve’s in-house AV and IT specialists. The system utilises Ubiquiti UniFi switching, wireless access points, and routing to ensure reliable performance and scalability for future upgrades.
Security was designed with simplicity and effectiveness in mind, incorporating CCTV coverage, integrated alarms, gate and door access control, and intercom systems with audio-visual identification. This provides peace of mind whether the property is occupied or unattended.
From the moment of arrival, the lighting design establishes a strong sense of place. Wall-mounted step lights guide the driveway approach, leading to a statement entrance framed by black aluminium up-down lights and softly illuminated timber soffits.
Evolve has carefully integrated each system to work seamlessly within the home, ensuring a balance of performance, aesthetics, and ease of use while enhancing the overall living experience.
